Bio

I choose to work in clay because of the

direct connection to nature it allows me.

I create hand thrown pottery as well as sculptural pieces in high-fired porcelain and brown stoneware.

Throwing at my wheel, provides me with a meditative process, where I meld the clay into simple organic forms. I adorn the completed pieces in layers of glaze to create texture and depth reminiscent of natural landscapes, sunsets and oceans; each piece an intimate picture of the world around me.

I further explore themes of human existence and interactions through hand building and carving of sculptural pieces. Often times incorporating humor or satire, I am looking for a more public interaction and discussion of these pieces, inviting the viewer to pause a moment and make a connection to some

issue or concept.
